Chapter Four: Red Herring
Juliet O'Hara hung the phone up without having realised she'd done it. She stared at it for almost thirty seconds before Shawn's voice was able to slice through the fog.
"What?" she said dully.
"I said, what was that about? I've never heard such unladylike talk."
"Did someone just let a sailor in here?" Gus agreed.
Time sped back up and the bustle of the station zoomed back into sharp relief. "That was Buzz," she said, feeling ill. "Victor

"It's over, I'm done," Gus read, an edge of panic on his vowels.

He was thirsty. And hungry, although they said hunger was actually the first sign of dehydration. He couldn't remember the last time he'd had anything to eat or drink, or even what day it was, but it was probably too soon to worry about kidney failure. Carlton Lassiter thought about the glittering bottle of scotch in his house in Santa Barbara with a longing that quickly turned to disgust. Too late for that.

"That's right, Guster," Shawn seethed, peering out through a gap in the fence across the street from his best friend's house. "Hide your guilt, traitor."
"Shawn," whispered a voice at his ear. Shawn jumped and whirled around, heaving a sigh of irritation. "What are you doing out here?" his father continued.
"Nothing."
"Nothing huh." His dad crouched behind him, tilting his head in that no-nonsense way that meant Shawn was ab
Eedle idle, fiddle fum,
A casket's brown and so is rum.
The piglet has run out of cheer,
And while the Moon has come so near -
We've all got noodles in our heads
And owls in our beds and straw in our sheds.
And so sayeth I, the one with the hands,
And the feet and the eyes and the dirt made of land,
"Be whole and be cheerful and stay clear of oysters.
And be kind to nuns, who at times live in cloisters."

I smelled you on the air today.
The clouds put forth their dimmest face.
Touched not by sun, not a single ray,
Though they leave their mark on all of space.
Yet leave me be, alone, to pray.
A twisting of leaves behind my back,
A dancing of wind in a rainless mist,
A growing foreboding, amorphous black,
All meet in my center, a destined tryst.
Surprising my mind in a slow attack.
Leave me be, to pray alone
Beside your side, where oft' I've knelt.
This dread, this fear, which seems to've grown
Comes soft, replacing what else I've felt
And other such things, as joy, I've known.
A slow attack, behind my mind,
A gathering force to
if you forget my face
don't be alarmed, i might
just be a little voice from outside.
listen close here, little flame,
i've seen and i know the way:
patience in light of confusion.
when you can tell the moon
it's right for the night to be
silent and warm and unyielding.
but when you focus on the day
all other things just fade away
and you are left with naught but dust.
open your eyes and see the truth
as soon as the past has slipped away
that's when the future disappears.
it's like the emblem of your smile
destroying the pain of confidence
commiting the sin of denial
so confident you are
approaching the cool embrace

The first thing he noticed was that his eyes burned. He wondered at how his eyes could burn so hotly, but the rest of him be so cold. Vaguely, he realized that he was sweating and shivering at the same time

Hey guys - new chapter of If You Knew My Infinite Charm is up. I have been thinking of drawing some more but we'll see. I should be writing a paper right now. >_>
Hey I'm back, maybe. I don't even know that any of my old friends and watchers/watchees are still around. Sheesh. Anyway I haven't been drawing and I'm really out of practice, but I've been writing a lot and will be throwing up some fanfic.
I have come out of my drawing hibernation to draw a guest comic for a friend in need. Chris is a great artist and funny writer, and his comics are one of the few I actually seek out and remember to read every Tuesday and Friday. I'm pleased that he opted to run my comic during his paternity-leave, and I'm even more pleased that it's over and he'll be gracing us again!
